Air America

Excerpts from the Guardian and NYT: Between six and 14 members of an Iraqi family were reported dead yesterday after US warplanes obliterated a house in the northern oil town of Baiji. Enraged local officials described the attack as unjustified and said it had killed an innocent family, including one member who worked for the Iraqi police.

“I absolutely confirm there were no terrorists in this house,” police chief Colonel Sufyan Mustafa told Reuters. “Even if there had been, why didn’t they surround the area and detain the terrorists instead?” People

Gas Pains

I hold no brief for Vlad (the Impassive) Putin’s authoritarian Kremlin regime – in so many ways a role model for the one-party, oil-bidness oligarchy run by his soul-mate, George (Cedarhead) Bush. But the current “gas crisis” between Russia and Ukraine does expose some of the hype and hypocrisy that Western leaders and their media sycophants habitually display toward the ever-unruly Rus.

For example, Russia is being universally condemned by the Bush Regime and European leaders for the heinous crime of….practicing hard-nosed market capitalism. And for – horror of horrors! – mixing

Ours is a brand-new world of allatonceness

By RichardK (webmaster)

The UK government has been quick to deny that they practice, or tolerate the practice of torture. So it is perhaps not surprising that they are determined that you should not see the following documents that were leaked to Empire Burlesque soon after they were leaked in the UK.

Craig Murray was the UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, until his complaints and protest at the use of intelligence gained by torture got too much for Jack Straw and the Foreign Office, who

The Murray Torture Telegrams

By now, the world — or at least the blogosphere — has seen the documents released by former UK diplomat Craig Murray, proving that the Bush and Blair governments both knew that the “intelligence” they were receiving from Uzbekistan was the result of gruesome and agonizing tortures on thousands of innocent people. Bush and Blair knew this — yet Bush continued to “render” his Terror War captives to Uzbekistan, and shower the nation’s Stalinist dictator, Karimov, with gold, guns and public honor. And despite Blair’s repeated and strenuous denials of any complicity in America’s

Craig Murray Leak – ambassador to Uzbekistan, – Torture Telegrams blogs

Untitled Document I am going to comment on this later. This is kind of like reverse wire tapping. The Documents have been posted in HTML here (converted from PDF). Craig Murray was the UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, untill his complaints and protest at the use of intelligence gained by torture got too much for Jack Straw and the Foreign Office, who set about attempting to unsuccessfully smear him, and to successfully remove him from office. The Foreign Office has had the draft of Craig’s book for clearance for over 3 months now, and they are doing everything they can to

Shock, awe and Hobbes have backfired on America’s neocons

Shock, awe and Hobbes have backfired on America’s neocons Iraq has shown the hubris of a geostrategy that welds the philosophy of the Leviathan to military and technological power Richard Drayton Wednesday December 28, 2005 The Guardian The tragic irony of the 21st century is that just as faith in technology collapsed on the world’s stock markets in 2000, it came to power in the White House and Pentagon. For the Project for a New American Century’s ambition of “full-spectrum dominance” – in which its country could “fight and win multiple, simultaneous major-theatre wars” – was a monster borne up

TIA, UN Anti-Nazi Bills, Deeper Throats and Discount Calling.

Snippets I nosed around today.. Total Information Awareness went offshore – as per this Washington Post story last year – Ben H. Bell III, was Poindexter’s point man on the eviscerated TIA program – so he pulled up and moved operations to the Caribbean with the Bahamas-based Global Information Group Ltd whose servers are in the London Docklands area. They’re a customer of "core-isp.net". The U.S. government uses private, offshore, enterprises, run by "former" intelligence officials, to achieve their surveillance objectives. So that leads to the question. What is George Bush pushing this for? Here is a list of privatised

At look at the Roots of the Bush Dynasty – Samuel Bush

I did some interesting research on Prescott’s father – Samuel Prescott Bush last year and he’s the true Patriarch of the family. Let me dig it up… one second… Aha… found it. It’s long and some of the links that I linked to are now down. So I am going to post this in full as an archive. This family has been involved in two World Wars and are now on the cusp of fomenting the next. The history of the Bush family dovetails with the greatest wars over the past century… in each one you can find another Bush

Gospel Truth

Countless words of condemnation have been heaped upon George W. Bush and his hard-Right regime – a crescendo growing louder by the day, with voices from across the political spectrum. But the most devastating repudiation of the Regime’s foul ethos was actually delivered almost 2,000 years ago by the man whose birth is celebrated at this season of the year.

We speak, of course, of Jesus of Nazareth, whose Sermon on the Mount, as reported in the Gospels, called for a revolutionary transformation of human nature – a complete overthrow of

Sold American: The Plutocratic Pay-Off

Here’s a cold, hard fact for you, dug up by the ever-intrepid Toledo Blade: “Since Mr. Bush took office in 2001, the federal government has awarded more than $3 billion in contracts to the President’s elite 2004 Texas fund-raisers, their businesses, and lobbying clients, a Blade investigation shows.” (via Common Dreams)

And that’s just the Texas cronies – it doesn’t even cover the Wall Street bagmen, the Florida sugar daddies and all the other pay-to-play plutocrats across the country. Just think of it: $3 billion of taxpayer money funneled to Bush’s top Texas fundraisers. What a payoff!
