Who could possibly have suspected this? A Beltway-wired mercenary company hired by the American government to act as freebooting muscle in the war of aggression against Iraq has been accused -- in sworn affidavits from company insiders -- of operating a murder and gun-running racket in order to push its hard-right owner's religious extremism. Can such a thing even be contemplated? Why, the next thing you know, they'll be telling us that good, clean-limbed, all-American agents used KGB-derived torture tactics against helpless captives or something! A former Blackwater employee and an ex-U.S. Marine who has worked as a security operative for the company have made a series of explosive allegations in sworn statements filed on August 3 in federal court in Virginia. The two men claim that the company’s owner, Erik Prince, may have murdered or facilitated the murder of individuals who were cooperating with federal authorities investigating the company. The former employee also alleges that Prince “views himself as a Christian crusader tasked with eliminating Muslims and the Islamic faith from the globe,” and that Prince’s companies “encouraged and rewarded the destruction of Iraqi life.”

... bingo! any wonder why they recently switched names? uh huh. "well that wasn't us... that was... Blackwater. we're not Blackwater." and millions of sleepy-brained Americans will say, "yeah, you critics are never satisfied. Xe would never do anything like that!" |

... Truly a shame that multimillionaire hack Thomas Friedman couldn't have been set up as one of the Blackwater whistleblowers. That would have been fun. I wonder what the X in Xe could possibly stand for. The inert gas xenon? X marks the spot? Greek Christos? Nah. |

You're right, Chris. Nothing will come of this story. But it's good of you to tell us about it. Otherwise we never would have known. |

Remembers me of a movie Funny, silly movie, called Mars Attack. Remembers me that scene when the aliens were using the universal translator to scream "We are your friends. We came in peace." on megaphones while disintegrating everyone in sight with their lasers. |

Agence France Presse AFP picked up on the story. I saw it on Google News yesterday. I was surprised to see it there. I still don't think it'll ever get traction, but hey: If you didn't stick the knife all the way in, you still carved a slice off the bastards. Score one for the good guys, Chris. |

none "An extraordinary achievement" in Iraq, indeed, even by OUR high "standards." http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/usinterventionism.html?q=usinterventionism.html There are links to two (consecutive days, I think) videos of Keith Olbermann on this story posted at Scahill's website. One is with an interview with Scahill: http://rebelreports.com/ This, presumably, with all due respect, means the story has thus been seen by a lot more than those who read about it hear, from Scahill's site and the Nation site, combined. But this still does NOT mean anything will come of it. |

... Chris, your piece brought to mind those clips we all saw on youtube a couple of years ago. 'BlackWater mercenaries slaughtering unarmed civilians'. I just revisited them. Really shocking. It's recreational murder. |

Until? "And the system that spawned these crimes will go on and on, "surging" into new atrocities and unnecessary deaths around the globe -- even while praising itself constantly, obsessively, pathologically, as a "force for peace" in the world." Until...? It won't go on forever, nothing ever does. The world changes. The world moves on,... until "the system that spawned these crimes" finds itself confronted by/entwined in conditions that finally bring the system either down or to a halt. So where is the Imperium headed? What will "the end" look like? Not military defeat, the Imperium's clear downward spiral makes that unnecessary -- and who would be insane enough to take on the wounded, armed-to-the-teeth Imperium in its agonal moment? Can we hope that it will it go into that "dark night", bankrupt, with a whimper, delusional to the end? So the question remains, "Until....what?" |

Death of Empires Empires never die, they just rot away(usually by its own self-inflicted cancers of the brain and the heart). In the case of the USA "empire," bankruptcy will soon consume its short reign of terror as the world's "lone Superpower!" |

Mr. This Prince fellow pretends that he and his "BOYS" are TEMPLARS? They are so stupid that they don't understand that they really resemble the "INQUISITION" Not the "TEMPLARS". The "TEMPLARS" were the avowed enemy of the Church from Rome, which was trying to eradicate the Gnostics or family of Christ. The "TEMPLARS" were formed to defend the Gnostics against the PHONEY "POPE" etc actually remnants of the old ROMAN EMPIRE and that empires pagan culture, morphed into a quasi Christianity based on fables and invention, not on "CHRIST" but on the "POPE". The "POPES" army killed the "TEMPLARS" and took over their Churches and other holdings. The "INQUISITION" is still alive and in business, to wit, "BLACK WATER" etc.Murderers from birth to death, cowards all! |
